Modern Slavery Statement
Our commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking
1. Introduction
This statement is made pursuant to Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps that Global University UK has taken during the financial year ending 31 July 2025 to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place in our supply chains or in any part of our organisation.
Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms, including slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking, all of which have in common the deprivation of a person's liberty by another in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain.
2. Our Organisation
Global University UK is a higher education institution registered with the Office for Students (UKPRN: 10092234). We provide undergraduate and postgraduate education across five faculties, employing approximately 450 staff members.
Our Key Statistics

We recognise that certain sectors within our supply chain may carry higher risks of modern slavery, particularly those involving manual labour, migrant workers, or operations in countries with weaker legal protections.
4. Our Policies
The following policies contribute to our approach to identifying and preventing modern slavery:
Ethical Procurement Policy
Requires suppliers to comply with ethical standards and declare their anti-slavery measures
Whistleblowing Policy
Enables staff and third parties to report concerns confidentially
Recruitment Policy
Ensures robust checks on employment eligibility and agency workers
Safeguarding Policy

5. Due Diligence Processes
To identify and mitigate modern slavery risks, we have implemented the following due diligence measures:
- Pre-qualification questionnaires for new suppliers that include modern slavery declarations
- Review of suppliers' own modern slavery statements where applicable
- Risk assessment of supply chains based on sector, geography, and business model
- Enhanced due diligence for high-risk suppliers
- Contract clauses requiring compliance with the Modern Slavery Act
- Regular supplier reviews and audits
6. Risk Assessment and Management
We have identified the following areas as carrying higher risk within our operations and supply chains:
Higher Risk Areas
- • Cleaning and facilities management services
- • Construction and building maintenance
- • Catering and hospitality (including agency staff)
- • IT hardware manufacturing supply chains
For these higher-risk areas, we conduct enhanced due diligence and require suppliers to demonstrate their compliance measures.
7. Training
We provide training to relevant staff to ensure they understand the signs of modern slavery and how to report concerns:
- All procurement staff receive mandatory modern slavery awareness training
- HR staff are trained to identify potential trafficking victims during recruitment
- Student-facing staff receive safeguarding training that includes trafficking awareness
- Senior leadership receives annual briefings on modern slavery compliance
8. Performance Indicators
We measure the effectiveness of our anti-slavery measures through:
| Indicator | 2023-24 Result |
|---|---|
| Percentage of high-risk suppliers with modern slavery clauses in contracts | 100% |
| Procurement staff trained in modern slavery awareness | 100% |
| Number of modern slavery concerns reported | 0 |
| Suppliers terminated for modern slavery non-compliance | 0 |
