Foundation
Global University was founded as the Metropolitan Technical Institute, a specialist college established to support Britain's industrial advancement during the height of the Victorian era. The founding vision emphasized practical education combined with theoretical excellence.
First Degrees Awarded
Following two decades of growth, the institution received degree-awarding powers and graduated its first cohort of Bachelor's degree students in Engineering and Applied Sciences.
Royal Charter Status
In recognition of contributions to wartime research and national advancement, His Majesty The King granted the institution a Royal Charter, officially establishing it as a comprehensive research university.
Campus Expansion
A major building programme began, establishing the modern campus at Covent Garden. New facilities for medicine, law, and humanities were opened, tripling the institution's capacity.
International Recognition
The University established its first international partnerships, signing exchange agreements with leading institutions across Europe, North America, and Asia.
Centenary Celebrations
Global University celebrated 100 years of academic excellence. Her Majesty The Queen visited the campus, unveiling the Centenary Building and new research facilities.
Digital Transformation
Opening of international research hubs and launch of the first digital student portal. The University became a pioneer in online learning resources and virtual libraries.
Research Excellence
Achieved outstanding results in the Research Assessment Exercise, with 90% of research rated as world-leading or internationally excellent. Major grants secured for groundbreaking projects.
Global Campus Network
Establishment of satellite campuses and partnerships in Dubai, Singapore, and Lagos, extending our educational reach to over 45,000 students worldwide.
Pandemic Response
